What is dermapen 4 microneedling ?

Dermapen, microneedling is a popular procedure that uses multiple tiny vertical needles to create microchannels deep into the skin to stimulate collagen and elastin fibres. These microchannels are able to carry 80 percent more topical ingredients as well as actives like peptides growth factors or hyaluronic acid deep into the dermis and are absorbed by the underlying cells in the skin

Do not use oral non steroidal anti – inflammatory agents or cook the skin as this may reduce the efficacy of the treatment

Use only a mild cleanser and hydrating products as the skin will be dry

Microchannels remain open for 48 hours post-needling- app my growth factors, peptides or hyaluronic acid serums during this time and not creams so that you do not block or congest the multitude of microchannels created by the procedure.

  • Dont gym or partake in heat- inducing exercise routines post treatment
  • Some flaking and peeling can occur especially if the skin is dry before treatment
  • Do not use harsh scrubs or defoliants to speed up the process
  • Once the microchannels are closed use a good post barrier repair cream to support the barrier as it normalizes
  • Resume active ingredients like retinol or AHAs 5 – 7 days post treatment once the skin has settled
  • Use a melanin inhibiting product if you are prone to hyperpigmentation
  • Avoid direct sun exposure for at least a week after the procedure and use high factor broad spectrum sunscreen if you need to be outdoors
